Meet New Zealand’s safest kids.
Queenstown has become the country’s first community to supply reflective safety vests to every primary school child.
About 1180 vests in three sizes are being handed out to youngsters at Queenstown Primary, Arrowtown School, St Joseph’s and Glenorchy School – with another 1220 in reserve for new entrants in coming years.
They were bought by Queenstown’s Rotary Club after it raised $34,000 from a Melbourne Cup function last year.
Queenstown Primary five and six-year-olds are pictured here trying on the new high-visibility vests and in the background are event organiser Chris Campbell (left) and school principal John Western.
