Search for missing Queenstown woman continues

A search for a missing Queenstown woman has entered its fifth day (Tuesday).

Renee Lisa Barrett, 42, has not been seen since last Tuesday and her vehicle was found abandoned in Kelvin Heights on Friday.

Police, Queenstown and Wanaka Land SAR members and the Queenstown harbour master began searching Lake Wakatipu, the Kawarau River and homes in Kelvin Heights on Friday night.

Barrett has medical conditions and both police and family members are concerned for her safety.

Search teams have checked the river to its confluence with the Arrow River and gone door to door in Kelvin Heights.

Senior constable Julian Cahill says: “We’ll continue the search today.

“It will focus on the track out to Jack’s Point, the lake edge on the southern side of Kelvin Heights and Frankton Arm, and a few houses we’ve not got to yet.”

The search, which has involved 30 staff from the four organisations, will involve boats and a helicopter today.

Police have asked residents to check outbuildings and gardens.

Anyone with information should call Southern Police on 03 4411622.
