The Central Lakes Trust has granted $2000 tertiary education scholarships to eight Wakatipu High students.
The eights were among 31 Year 13 students awarded scholarships by the trust at a function in Cromwell on Monday night.
“We have been highly impressed with the calibre of young people in our region who are planning tertiary studies and subsequently we have increased the number of scholarships awarded since this initiative was first established in 2007,” trust chairman, Queenstowner Sir Eion Edgar, says.
Criteria include students’ future aspirations, financial need, work ethic, community involvement and academic ability.
The Wakatipu High students selected, along with their proposed courses are: Catrona Anderson (psychology/law), Holly Bain (design innovation), Jared Campbell (health sci/MBChB), Ben Dolman (commerce/bus management), Max Gunn (LLB/music), Ariana Horlsey (health sci/physio), Alison Macharg (health sci/MBChB) and Jessica Thomson (surveying).
