These kids could be among some aspiring little athletes who’ll represent Arrowtown School at the up-and-coming Otago running champs.
Some 150 pupils from Years 5-8 took part in the school’s annual crosscountry run last Thursday in a course taking them along Tobin’s Track, across a chilly Arrow River and finishing at Wilcox Green.
Years 5 and 6 kids ran 1800 metres while Years 7 and 8 ran 2.5km.
Arrowtown School sports coordinator Paul Winders says he saw plenty of talent that could go on to run in the Central Otago primary school champs at 12 Mile Delta and the Otago champs in Dunedin in the next couple of months.
“We’ve definitely got a number of kids who will go on to the Dunedin competition and we’ve got quite a good lead, about six to eight weeks, in which to train them up.”
