A Queenstown bar named after American rock star Jim Morrison is to feature in a TV doco on his life.

Morrison’s Irish Bar was the setting this week for a Skype interview from London with local-based clinical psychologist Dr Joe Guse (pictured).

A former comedian from the United States, Guse has written a psychological profile, Forever 27, on four rock stars who died at that age — Morrison, an alcoholic and drug addict who was found dead in a bathtub in Paris, Jimi Hendrix, Kurt Cobain and Janis Joplin.

Guse provided psychological insight into Morrison during a three-hour interview on Monday.

The doco — Jim Morrison: Rider on the Storm, named after his hit with the Doors, Riders on the Storm — is being produced by Britain’s ITV.

Guse says he left the US ‘‘because the American healthcare system is such a disaster’’.

He first shifted to Auckland for five years before relocating to Queenstown about a year ago.
