Rising hospo star

The sky’s the limit for a talented Queenstown hospo worker after claiming a prestigious award.

Novotel Queenstown Lakeside’s Heide Holtz took out the Emerging Accommodation Professional title at the Hospitality NZ Rising Stars Awards on Tuesday night.

She shares the award with Wellington’s Catherine Hepburn, after the judges found it too difficult to choose between the pair.

“I would hire them both today,” one judge commented.

Holtz, pictured outside Novotel, started out as a housekeeper and is now the restaurant and bar manager.

She says she’s keen to become a general manager one day, but is happy taking her time.

She was nominated by general manager Jim Moore, who identified her as a “person who has got something special to offer”.

Hospitality NZ boss Vicki Lee says the awards give rising industry leaders some “well-deserved recognition”.
