A prominent local businessman will be honoured for his longstanding efforts at this weekend’s Queenstown Business Excellence Awards.
The man, whose identity won’t be revealed till Saturday night, will receive the Chamber of Commerce’s Lifetime Achievement Award from deputy Prime Minister Bill English during the glitzy presentations evening at Skyline Restaurant.
“This man has contributed a huge amount to the district over a long period of time – in a number of different areas for the business and wider community,” Chamber boss Ann Lockhart says.
“People know him for what he’s doing now but he’s done a lot over the years.”
Fourteen Queenstown businesses and businesspeople are chasing accolades at the event.
Artbay Gallery, Central Otago Copiers and Simple Solutions Interiors are vying for best small business. Blue Peaks, MedRecruit and Peppers Beacon are finalists for best medium business and Crowne Plaza, SkyCity Casino and AJ Hackett Bungy are in line for the best large business award.
Finalists for the young entrepreneur gong are Samantha Stirling, Sam Hazeldine and Jacqui Spice.
Central Otago Copiers and Ziptrek Ecotours are up for the sustainability award.
Tickets are still available for the gala dinner, which kicks off at 6.30pm at the gondola.
