Remarkables School throws its doors open to parents

Queenstown’s new primary school is opening for parents of potential pupils this Sunday.

Swanky Remarkables Primary School in Frankton was officially opened in August and now needs kids on the 2011 roll.

An open day is being held between 10am and 2pm to encourage parents considering sending their wee ones to the school next year and beyond to enrol now, principal Debbie Dickson says.

“As a brand new school, we don’t have any historical data on which to base future enrolment figures. The Education Ministry require our enrolment numbers for 2011 now so our staffing requirements can be met and resources allocated for students,” she says.

Parents of new entrants to year six students can attend a short presentation by Dickson in the school hall – for years five and six at 10am, years three and four at noon and years one and two at 1pm.

A tour of the chic Lake Avenue school will follow.
