Business heavyweights Norm Thompson and Michael Stiassny have joined the Queenstown Airport Corporation board.
They replace Richard Tweedie and Alison Gerry.
Thompson’s a former deputy CEO of Air New Zealand who sits on the Tourism New Zealand and ATEED boards. Stiassny’s a senior partner with corporate advisory firm KordaMentha and is currently chairman of Auckland electricity infrastructure company Vector and insurance giant TOWER.
Queenstown mayor Vanessa Van Uden says of the pair: “They are both highly-respected and bring a mix of both aviation, tourism and corporate experience to complement existing board members.”
Queenstown’s council owns 75.1 per cent of the airport, with the balance owned by listed company Auckland Airport. It’s managed by Queenstown Airport Corporation Limited.
