Westpac Queenstown branch manager Francis King holds proof that All Black captain Richie McCaw shouldn’t give up his day job.
The rugby star’s offered his signature to a sports top for the bank’s Chopper Appeal – but McCaw forgot to add the ‘r’ in chopper. “It was the end of the day when he signed it [at the NZ Golf Open in March].
We should have had him up about it earlier when the concentration levels were better,” King jokes.
The framed top is first prize in a local raffle to raise money for the Westpac Rescue Helicopter service. King says the nationwide fundraiser throughout May aims to raise at least $1 million.
All money raised locally goes toward training and buying new equipment for the Lakes District Air Rescue Trust. Raffle tickets are on sale at Westpac and Wilkinson’s Pharmacy.
