Race day charity bash going Gaga

Paul McCartney and Lady Gaga memoribilia are up for grabs at the Melbourne Cup Arrowtown Race Day charity fundraiser.

A framed electric guitar signed by Beatles legend McCartney and a double-sided signed framed photo of pop star Lady Gaga are among 24 items being auctioned next Tuesday to raise funds towards a $700,000 community complex at Arrowtown’s Jack Reid Park.

A seven-night luxury accommodation package for 10 people at Denarau, Fiji, is also up for grabs.
Campbell, the Queenstown Rotary president and organiser of its annual Melbourne Cup fundraiser, was approached by Arrowtown Rugby Club president Simon Spark to make a planned new community complex this year’s beneficiary.

Spark, who’s setting up a charitable trust, says his club will be a major user of the complex but other sporting and community groups will also benefit.

Tuesday’s race day, with Jack Reid Park substituting for Melbourne’s Flemington, will also include a BBQ lunch, bubbles and a male revue by Arrowtown rugby players.

Tickets, at $50, are available from Queenstown’s Locations Realty and Arrowtown’s New Orleans Hotel.
