A Queenstown tourism giant has been named as the preferred bidder in the sale of a Wanaka ski field.

Real Journeys – which operates the TSS Earnslaw – intends to buy the popular Cardrona Alpine Resort.

The sale remains subject to due diligence and shareholder approval prior to the start of Cardrona’s snow season on June 21.

Real Journey’s boss Richard Lauder (pictured) says the firm is delighted to reach this stage of the process and be the preferred bidder.

“It’s very exciting for Real Journeys but it’s also important to note that the sale is still subject to satisfactory due diligence and final shareholder approval,” Lauder says.

Lauder says his firm is working actively with current owners Vealls (Singapore) Pte Ltd to satisfy the due diligence processes.

“We are hopeful of a positive outcome to the sale process and some heavy snow falls over the coming weeks.”
