Queenstown will be beamed into millions of homes in the United States when a popular weight-loss show airs this month.

Two episodes from hit reality TV show The Biggest Loser: Couples were filmed in the resort in February – and will be viewed by up to nine million regular American fans on April 19.

The scenes feature eight contestants river boarding, bungy jumping, rock climbing and canyon swinging.

While in the resort, The Biggest Loser trainer Bob Harper tweeted: “We are in Queenstown, New Zealand, and I gotta say God really outdid himself down here. This place is fantastic.”

Destination Queenstown boss Tony Everitt says it was a fantastic opportunity to showcase Queenstown to a major international market.

“Money can’t buy the kind of exposure this has given Queenstown. In time, the series will also roll out to the rest of the world which will give us even more international exposure.”

More than 190,000 US visitors pour into NZ each year.
