A Queenstown man has been charged in relation to a vicious assault that left a holidaymaker needing reconstructive surgery.
The 21-year-old man was arrested by police on Friday and charged with wounding with intent to injure.
Alleged victim Mike Knight was attacked in Queenstown’s Skybar nightspot two months ago.
Aucklander Knight, 37, suffered a shattered cheekbone and eye socket, a broken nose, damaged eye and major nerve damage after being kneed or kicked in the face by an unknown man.
The father-of-two needed two plates surgically inserted in his face after the incident at the Camp Street bar at 2.45am on Saturday, July 13.
The 21-year-old is due to appear before a court registrar in Queenstown tomorrow (Monday).
