A landscape gardener has denied possessing an offensive weapon – a shovel – during an alleged Queenstown road rage incident.

In Queenstown District Court this morning, Moroccan Ahmed Mouttaki, 43, denied using a shovel in circumstances showing an intention to use it to commit an offence involving threat of violence.

It’s alleged Mouttaki threatened to kill another motorist with the shovel after a disagreement at Remarkables Park last Monday.

Mouttaki – representing himself before Judge Michael Turner – said he was going to plead not guilty.

Mouttaki was remanded on bail and ordered not to contact the alleged victim. A status hearing set has been set down for March 25.
