Queenstown slopes open after snow dump

Snow revellers can head for the hills today – all Queenstown’s skifields are now open.

The wild winter weather which blanketed the region in white gold this week has enabled Coronet Peak – previously relying on man-made powder on main trails – to open all its lifts from this morning.

About 20cm of powder has fallen over the past 24 hours according to the NZSki.com website.

The Remarkables and Cardrona are also open for business and boasting plenty of fresh snow, with about a 50cm and 80cm base respectively.
