Queenstown Police are investigating more than a dozen complaints after an overnight theft spree in Kelvin Heights.

The thefts were from unlocked motor vehicles in Peninsula Road, Milward Place, Oregon Drive, Sequoia Place and Cedar Drive on Friday night.

Fuel containers were also stolen and boats on trailers parked at houses were interfered with.

Some of the items, including fuel containers, were recovered from Jardine Park.

Detective sergeant Brian Cameron says: “It is entirely likely the offenders were travelling by vehicle given the spread of the incidents reported.

“It may be that someone has seen the people involved transferring the fuel into their vehicle.”

Police are asking residents to come forward with information and to check on neighbouring properties if they know the owners are away.
