The 53-year-old was arrested on Thursday after a computer with objectionable images was found at a Queenstown property.

Senior constable Chris Blackford says: “The man was interviewed by detectives in relation to possession of a computer which contained several hundred images of objectionable publications.”

The transient man is well known to Queenstown police. The laptop had been checked by the owner of the Queenstown property where it was found, who contacted police after discovering the images.

The 53-year-old was charged with possession of objectionable material and is due to appear in court on June 17.

He was remanded in custody due to the serious nature of the alleged offending.
