A Queenstown man accused of hitting another man in the head with a heavy bar guard rail support is due to appear in court.
The 40-year-old New Zealander was charged with assault with a blunt instrument after the incident in Cow Lane, Queenstown, in the early hours of Sunday morning.
“The report says there was a scuffle inside a bar, the man leaves and then when in the lane he allegedly picks up the guard rail support and swings it at the victim,” senior constable Chris Blackford says.
The victim received a cut to the head and was treated in hospital.
Police were called to Cow Lane, a small alley with a number of bars, at 2.20am.
The 40-year-old is due to appear in Queenstown District Court this morning (Monday).
