An online video series promoting Queenstown to Chinese-speaking travellers has been produced.
The six-part series Xie Hou Xin Xilan – Chinese for ‘First Hand’ – is targeting Chinese through China’s biggest social media platform, Weibo.
The episodes are delivered in both Mandarin and English with subtitles and being hosted on newzealand.com.
The producers are locals Shuangji Zhou, a Chinese expat and tourism consultant, cameraman James Holman and Trent Yeo, director of local adventure company Ziptrek Ecotours.
“Our aim is to encourage potential visitors to both New Zealand and Queenstown through compelling imagery and stories, showing them ‘first hand’ that we’re an aspirational destination that’s appealing, accessible and welcoming,” Yeo says.
The series has been sponsored by Destination Queenstown, Tourism NZ and Auckland International Airport.
DQ chief executive Graham Budd says: “China is an important emerging market for Queenstown, and ‘First Hand’ is an innovative way of communicating and inspiring millions of potential Chinese-speaking travellers.
“To have a unique showcase of our destination which is produced by people who live here, love Queenstown and understand this audience is invaluable.”
