Remarkables Primary kids ditched their shoes and got their feet busy for a great grape stomp last Friday.
The 279 students squished pinot noir, pinot gris and sauvignon blanc grapes donated by Amisfield Wine Company for a 14-month long Remarkables Parents Association fundraiser.
Along with bottles of wine branded Remarkables Squish, Squash, Squelch, pupils will learn how to brew ginger beer and make bread and cheese.
The wee vintners in the making, aged between 5 and 10, will work alongside professionals in the industry to produce the sellable products.
Limited bottles of Remarkables Squish, Squash, Squelch pinot gris and sauvignon blanc can be purchased at the end of the year, while pinot noir can be bought about May next year.
Money raised will go towards books and resources for the school’s information centre.
