Two of England’s best-known comedy stars, Jennifer Saunders and Adrian Edmondson, are getting the lowdown on Queenstown this week.
Their daughter Freya Edmondson (above centre) – pictured with fellow English gap-year traveller India Fitzpatrick and Gibbston’s Mount Edward winery boss Duncan Forysth – is Skyping home most days from the resort.
Emmy Award-winning Saunders wrote and starred as eccentric fashion PR agent Edina Monsoon in hit TV comedy Absolutely Fabulous. Her husband Edmondson made his name as punk pyscho Vyvyan Basterd in the outrageous TV show, The Young Ones.
Freya, 19, their youngest daughter, likens Queenstown to a Little Britain as it’s full of English working in bars and restaurants.
She and Fitzpatrick, 18, have done two tandem bungy jumps since arriving last week, in preparation for taking on AJ Hackett’s largest leap, Nevis, this Sunday.
“You can’t leave New Zealand and leave Nevis unconquered,” she told Herald on Sunday.
Freya’s pursuing a fashion career through an internship at Vogue magazine in London when she returns home.
