Commuters heading into Queenstown this morning (Tuesday) would have had to contend with this house along Frankton Road.
The roughcast home was being transported from its Suburb Street site in Queenstown to Invercargill – it cornered Suburb Street onto Frankton Road at about 8.40am.
THL owner Kurt McNamara, overseeing the shift, says it was a fairly tight squeeze down Suburb Street.
“To give you an idea, the power poles are 9.3 metres apart and the house is 9.2 metres wide.
“But this is an everyday occurrence for us.”
McNamara says the windy Devil’s Staircase on the way to Invercargill isn’t too difficult to negotiate but can become a hold-up for other traffic.
“It’s usually pretty good.”
