Queenstown council boss briefs staff on proposed restructure

Queenstown Lakes District Council boss Adam Feeley has given an initial briefing to staff about the likely shape of a restructure.

An independent review team led by former Auckland Regional Council boss Peter Winder has completed a draft report into council operations and staff, the basis of the Feeley briefing this morning.

A staffer tells scene.co.nz they’re none the wiser after hearing Feeley’s address.

The staffer says Feeley indicated there’d be big changes with some winners and some losers.

However, Feeley also indicated it’d be business as usual, the staffer says.

The restructure is running the rule over the jobs of more than 240 staff across council, Lakes Environmental and Lakes Leisure.

The restructure is part of a wide-ranging organisation review which has already recommended disestablishing two council controlled organisations Lakes Enviromental and Lakes Leisure. The operations of Lakes Environmental, which handles regulatory and consent business, and recreation and venues manager Lakes Leisure, are to brought back in-house as part of council.
