Queenstown banker in alleged $400,000 theft


A former Queenstown banker has been arrested and charged with stealing $400,000.

The 29-year-old woman is an ex-staffer at ANZ in Queenstown and it is alleged the offending occurred between August 2010 and July 2013.

Queenstown detective Matt Jones says the alleged theft involved setting up fictitious accounts.

The woman faces A charge of accessing a computer system for a dishonest purpose and five charges of theft by a person in a special relationship.

The woman is scheduled to make an appearance in Queenstown District Court on Monday.

ANZ declined to comment.
