Queenstown’s main council building will remain closed for another week following a diesel leak on Monday.
Queenstown Lakes District Council chief executive Mike Theelen says the diesel had soaked the carpets and some of the walls in the Gorge St building, which meant they needed replacing or repairs.
“While this disruption has not been ideal for the community or for our Gorge Rd staff, we have decided that while the office is vacant, to take the opportunity to complete the refresh which was already planned for this building.”
The offices will reopen to the public on Monday, November 19.
The public library, which occupied the floor below, reopened on Wednesday.
