The Prime Minister will be in town this week to kick off Queenstown’s winter bash.
John Key will declare the 10-day Winter Festival underway at the lakefront opening party at Earnslaw Park this Friday from 6pm.
“It’s a fantastic endorsement of the Festival and its value both locally and nationally that the Prime Minister – who’s also the Minister of Tourism – is the one to get the party started,” festival Director Simon Green says.
“We hope Mr Key enjoys his time here and can see firsthand how locals and visitors alike celebrate the town’s unique culture and community.”
Fireworks and live entertainment from Southland performers Pipeworkz will start the 36th annual Festival, which runs until Sunday, July 4.
