The Queenstown Primary School’s parent and teacher association raised a record $25,000 last Saturday.
More than 2000 people packed into the facility’s Robins Road grounds for the annual school fair, the PTA’s main fundraiser.
Committee spokeswoman Moira Finlin says the event was “almost like Christmas” for the pupils, who were involved in the build-up to fair.
Youngsters played on the bouncy castle, took novelty bicycles for a spin, rode horses and got their sugar hit munching on candy floss and toffee apples from the food stalls.
The PTA meets in a fortnight to decide how to spend the proceeds, but ideas include landscaping at the school and a hall extension, Finlin says.
