These Queenstown Primary youngsters have traded their pocket money for treats at a special fundraiser for the Canterbury earthquake.
Pictured (from left) are Hamish Waters, 5, Allegra Boyde-Slosen, 7, and Rachel Scobie, 5, who were among the Year One and Year Two kids who raised $329 for Kaiapoi Borough School from a cake stall last Thursday.
Children, who had been learning about the importance of water, baked sweets containing it as an ingredient.
“When the earthquake happened in Christchurch the children realised how important it is and how important clean water is for our survival,” new entrants team leader Julie Walker says.
The kids also brought along pre-loved toys to sell. Altogether, Queenstown Primary raised about $1000 for the earthquake-affected Kaiapoi school.
