ONE coffee and six takes later, Prime Minister John Key finally nails it.
Key, filmed by Jeff Aldridge and coached along by Destination Television executive producer Julie Woodham, took time out of his Queenstown Winter Games visit to introduce a tourism promo for Air New Zealand’s in-flight entertainment service.
It took Key a few goes to warm up during the shoot in one of the five plush rooms at Eichardt’s Private Hotel on Queenstown’s lakefront last Monday.
Understandable, given it was 7.30am.
After an initial run-through, he remarked: “And I can do a lot better than that.”
Key broke for a much-needed coffee hit after a patchy fifth take but then delivered a polished performance to wrap it all up.
Woodham says the footage should be screening on flights arriving into the country’s main centres, including Queenstown, by December 1.
