Playhouse raises $2500

Queenstown sisters Sarah and Jamie Wood are “stoked” after AJ Hackett bungy co-founder Henry van Asch shelled out $2500 for the treasured childhood playhouse they auctioned off for charity.

The youngsters have had the playhouse since it was made for them 10 years ago by their grandfather Bill McCallum, who’s suffering from prostate cancer.

Van Asch beat off two other bids to land the large wooden playhouse last Friday. It’s believed to be for his two-year-old daughter.

“The girls are really pleased they got more than double the amount they were expecting,” says Sarah and Jamie’s dad Mike.

“Henry phoned with his bid half an hour before the auction was due to close and it’s being shifted to his home in Dalefield.”

The money raised will be split between the Prostate Cancer Foundation and children’s charity CanTeen.
