Two Queenstowners are organising an art auction to support their North Cape to Bluff cycling fundraiser.

Kim Percival and Rachel Kennedy are joining four North Islanders in a Ride out of the Blue bike challenge to raise money for a school programme tackling depression.

The riders – who leave Bluff on October 13 – are targeting $50,000-plus for the cause and $46,580 for equipment, accommodation, food and support vehicles.

The local riders have connections to their cause.

Percival’s fiance committed suicide after battling depression and Kennedy herself suffered post-natal depression after the birth of her third child.

Their art auction happens at Arrowtown Hall on September 15.

Local artists including John Shewry, Simon Morrison-Deaker, Shane Woolridge, Luke Leaf and Pete and Jackie Chatfield have donated works.

Tickets at $30 a head or $280 for a table of 10 are on sale at Queenstown’s i-Site – the price includes food plus entertainment from local band LA Social Club and other musicians.

Percival and Kennedy are also running a fundraiser at Queenstown’s World Bar on October 6.
