NZSki could face boycott if season passes are capped

Message to Queenstown snow fields operator NZSki – mess with cheap season passes at your peril.

Those taking part in a slap-up online poll at scene.co.nz – which asked: “Would you boycott Queenstown snow fields Coronet Peak and The Remarkables if operator NZSki capped use of cheap season passes?” – have overwhelmingly voted yes.

A whopping 83.33 per cent – 45 votes – said they would boycott Queenstown fields, while 16.67 per cent – nine votes – said they wouldn’t. The poll margin of error is unknown but likely to be on the high side.

The poll question came a week after Mountain Scene revealed NZSki bosses had considered limiting use of season passes but wouldn’t be making changes – for now.

NZSki chief executive James Coddington was quoted in the story, saying: “We’ve had a rigourous debate as a company, internally and externally, whether we wanted to cap the passes. And we have decided for this next year we’re not going to.”
