Now’s the time for getting all shook up

C’mon everybody and snap your fingers now – Elvis fever has hit Queenstown.

Local actor James Stephenson (above) plays Chad in Showbiz Queenstown’s new production All Shook Up, which hits the Memorial Hall stage tonight.

The Elvis Presley-inspired rock ‘n roll musical features 26 classic songs by The King. Stephenson’s character sparks life into the drab Hicksville population, played by 24 other local actors.

Tickets for the nine-show season, which ends next Saturday, are “selling well” production manager Hilary Finnie says. One change to the programme is there’ll be no Saturday matinee, she adds.

Theatre-goers are encouraged to dress up as Elvis or in 1950s-style costumes for prizes at tomorrow’s and Saturday night’s shows, plus the kids’ matinee on Sunday and May 27 and 28 performances.
