Wellington’s loss is Queenstown’s gain when it comes to musical couple Judy Guan and Donald Kepple.
The pair will be playing at a community concert to be held tomorrow, organised by renowned local musos Mark and Emma Wilson.
Violinist Guan, 26, was a member of the Wellington Symphony Orchestra and has played with its Christchurch counterpart, while her fiance Kepple is a composer with an interest in electronic music.
Guan, who moved to New Zealand with her violin tutor – leaving her family behind in China – met Kepple at the NZ School of Music in the capital.
“We are putting an act together now, trying to do electronic music with keyboard and electric violin,” Guan says.
She met the Wilsons after auditioning for and playing in Showbiz Queenstown’s The Sound of Music band. ||
“She’s a real star,” Emma Wilson says.
The ‘Mark Wilson And Friends’ concert, which also features singing by Showbiz president Alex Derbie, will be held at St Peter’s Anglican Church hall at 1pm tomorrow.
Tickets are $5 and there’ll be tea and coffee afterwards.
