A Queenstown movie theatre will host the New Zealand premiere of the latest Ice Age movie during Winter Festival.
Downtown Queenstown’s Reading Cinemas complex will be transformed into a themed winter wonderland for the country’s first viewing of Ice Age 4: Continental Drift.
It will screen in the early evening at the end of the Winter Festival Family Fun Day on Saturday, June 23.
Every seat in the three-theatre complex will be up for grabs with 279 movie tickets given away through national and regional competitions.
Cinema complex boss Rebekah Moore says securing the premiere is a huge coup.
“It’s going to be a very special night and we’re looking forward to bringing a little bit of Hollywood to town and creating a cool atmosphere.
“Ticket winners will enjoy a true red carpet movie premiere experience complete with movie characters on the specially-themed blue carpet and there will be plenty of entertainment for all to enjoy in The Mall prior to the screening,” she says.
Festival director Simon Green says the premiere would be a wonderful finale for the first Saturday of the festival which involves the big festival parade was all about celebrating families and community.
“As the Southern Hemisphere’s biggest winter party, Winter Festival is a perfect staging post for launching Ice Age 4 in New Zealand – the synergy is superb, especially as the festival leads straight into the school holidays.
“There will be lots of very excited children trying to get hands on those tickets.”
