Three new bus stops are planned for Queenstown’s Stanley Street, as moves to create a new bus hub pick up pace.
Fluent Solutions, a consultancy firm representing NZ Transport Agency, has revealed details of the new hub in a letter to Queenstown’s council.
The project, announced last October, will move bus stops from their current Camp St location.
There’ll be three stops created, outside Liquor King, Queenstown Playcentre, and the Queenstown courthouse.
Bus shelters will be constructed at the Liquor King and Playcentre stops, while the Playcentre stop will also feature bike racks and a ticket kiosk.
According to the letter, the new hub will improve road safety, and increase bus use.
“The traffic created by the bus hub will potentially be reduced from current volumes, as these improvements to the passenger transport service will provide alternative travel options to private motor vehicles.”
It’s expected to be finished before the end of June.
