Some of Christchurch’s top music acts will play a free concert in Arrowtown next Saturday (March 12) to raise funds for their quake-ravaged city.

Fur Patrol star Julia Deans plus Flip Grater, Andrew Keoghan with Ben King of Golden Horse and The Unfaithful Ways will blast out sets at the finish line of the annual Motatapu race event.

About 800 competitors from Christchurch plus family and friends will join a massive crowd to watch the bands perform at Arrowtown’s Butlers Green from 4-8pm.

“It’s fantastic news that these artists have agreed to come down to do this,” Motatapu founder Geoff Matthews says.

“We will be fundraising on the day for Christchurch and hope to raise a significant sum.”

He adds: “It’s been incredibly difficult to arrange the concert at such short notice but we hope big numbers from the Wakatipu will come along and show their support at what is expected to be a very emotional Motatapu.”
