More Flight of the Conchords shows could be scheduled after huge demand for tickets to their tour that includes Queenstown.
In a statement this afternoon, the show publicist Leesa Tilley says the organisers are bowled over by the response.
“The tour promoters are feverishly working on plans to meet the huge demand for tickets – watch this space.”
Diehard Wakatipu Flight of the Conchords fans queued from 5am today (Friday) to get special pre-sale tickets for their Queenstown show.
The musical comedy duo are scheduled to take part in Queenstown’s Winter Festival on June 24 at the Events Centre.
Fans who missed out on pre-sale tickets online for Visa credit card holders earlier this week had another opportunity to get the sought-after tickets at 8am this morning at the Events Centre.
Fans were required to physically turn up this morning and were limited to two per person.
Queenstowner Orla Fitzpatrick was the first to turn up at the Events Centre at 5am but says because no one else had arrived she stayed in her car.
“Then three fellas came along so I went out – and then my friends turned up and I somehow went from fourth in the queue to seventh.”
Fitzpatrick and her pals Andrew Prill, Helen Rafferty, Heather Dunne and Jimmy Brown say they had stocked up on chocolate and coffee during the three-hour wait.
Fitzpatrick, who also kept busy with a spot of knitting, says she can’t wait for the show and will be getting her other ticket for her boyfriend.
“They are awesome. My boyfriend stayed in bed so I’m a good girlfriend doing this.”
By 6am, the queue was stretching out to the driveway – a fan who turned up just on 8am says she was among the final few to get tickets.
