Moo-ving artwork at Novotel

Artist Hannah Kidd put this farmer and his cow to pasture outside the Novotel Lakeside hotel this week.

The 29-year-old sculptor installed her Cow Cocky creation in the Milford Galleries’ outside exhibition space in the hotel’s gardens on Earl Street.

Kidd, who is originally from Methven but now lives at Franz Josef Glacier, constructed the piece in a few months from her signature materials – steel rods and flattened corrugated iron.

The sculpture represents the dairy boom in the South Island, she says.
