Here’s your first peek inside the new-look Memorial Centre in Queenstown.
The more than $3 million upgrade is scheduled to be completed today, in time for its first function tonight – a Chamber of Commerce Queenstown event.
Tickets for next month’s highly-anticipated grand opening are now on sale.
A two-hour variety show extravaganza, featuring a range of local star performers, will be held on March 16.
There’ll be two shows that day but only one show, the afternoon performance, will be available for the general public.
A VIP show, for stakeholders and donors, will be held that night.
“There’s just not enough space for everyone at once to come and see the show,” producer and Queenstown Memorial Hall Trust deputy chair Steve Wilde says.
“It’s a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. It’ll never be repeated so we want as many people as possible.”
Tickets are $20 or $60 for a family of four and available from Ticketek, or at the Memorial Centre from 9am-1pm each day from next week.
Almost $2 million in community grants and donations were fundraised to upgrade bedraggled Memorial Hall with council tipping in about $1m.
A special guide to the new-look hall and its grand opening show will feature in next week’s Mountain Scene
