Friends Lucy Mathews (brunette) and Lucy Gain (blonde) are jetting to the Mediterranean to sail superyachts with the rich and famous.
The 20-year-olds, who graduated with hospitality management diplomas from Queenstown Resort College last Saturday, fly to the southern French town of Antibes in April in the hope of landing stewardess jobs onboard luxury vessels.
“It’s a little bit bittersweet leaving Queenstown, but I’m starting to get really excited,” says Mathews.
The girls don’t have jobs lined up but they’re hoping the Kiwi reputation as hard workers will pave the way, she says.
To round out their qualifications as a stewardesses – a job involving housekeeping, cooking and hosting guests – they will start a week-long boat safety course in Auckland on Monday.
Three other QRC graduates are also heading to the same spot to try their luck.
