Playful Helen Maddock reaches for the skies while dangling from a vertical cliff face on Queenstown Hill during a sizzling summer climb.

The full-time Climbing Queenstown guide was snapped having fun on a sunny morning recently by mountaineer pal Chris Prudden.

The 20 metre-high, upper-tier cliff is a 40-minute walk from the road end and is a popular Wakatipu climbing venue.

Maddock was showing off her skills on what’s known as a “lactic acid layback grade 17 climb”.
