KingsView School pupils are gearing up to celebrate fund-raising success with a splash of colour – and their principal’s right in the firing line.
The Queenstown school’s holding a colour run next Friday to give pupils a pat on the back, after they raised $4000 for education outside the classroom.
Teacher Isabel Stanley says the original goal was $1000, and if that was reached, they’d get to hold a colour run.
The donations kept flooding in, she says.
Pupils were told if they could get to $3000, they’d get to cover principal Mike Stanley in the coloured powder.
“They hit that target quite quickly,” she says with a laugh.
They eventually reached the $4000 mark, which has them “pretty stoked”, she says.
Pupil Noah Bray, 10, says he “honestly didn’t think we’d get that much, because it’s quite hard”.
He reckons the “fun part” is going to be colour-bombing Stanley.
The colour run will be held at the Frankton Recreation Reserve after lunch next Friday.
