Coronet Peak’s 75th anniversary programme’s putting locals at its heart.
Coronet Peak boss Nigel Kerr says the Queenstown community’s always been a huge part of the mountain, with locals accounting for a large part of its workforce and customers.
The festivities begin with a literal bang on August 17, with roots reggae band Katchafire, a night ski party and fireworks display.
The week-long celebrations include a retro straight-ski race, the return of the iconic ‘Dash For Cash’, a gala dinner, the Meadow Fresh Dog Derby, and alumni apres-ski function.
“Our goal is to bring our community together to celebrate something we all know and love,” Kerr says.
