The wonderful weirdness of Wonderland will be brought to life in Queenstown this weekend.
The Melbourne City Ballet performs Alice in Wonderland in the resort on Sunday night, as part of a trans-Tasman tour.
They’ll perform at 15 venues in New Zealand and 45 venues across the ditch.
The production features a cast of 16 dancers, as well as leading Australian choreographers Michael Pappalardo and Brendan Bradshaw.
Bradshaw says the all-new ballet is perfect for all ages and is a magical portrayal of the classical story.
“I am so delighted to be bringing this ballet to NZ, my second home. Having spent over 10 years of my career at the Royal NZ Ballet, it is a dream come true to stage this fantastic new ballet across the country.”
Pappalardo says he was inspired by the “magic” he felt watching Alice in Wonderland as a child.
“I want to be able to capture what I experienced as a child, and recreate it for audiences across Australia and New Zealand.”
The show will take place at the Queenstown Memorial Centre, Sunday, 1.30pm. Tickets $52 for adults, kids $42.
