Lake Hayes stoush lawnmover up for auction

A lawnmower involved in the recent Lake Hayes Show stoush is being put to pasture – but for a good cause.

Stihl Shop Queenstown proprietor Mark McClellan (right), owner of The Boss V18, is auctioning the “battle-scarred” modified machine on TradeMe after it was T-boned by another ride-on mower at the A&P Society event on January 15.

The sponsor of the popular lawnmower race wants to give show organisers the money as a sign of goodwill following the barney between his worker Willy Boyd and Queenstown landscape contractor Simon Hunt.

“The mower’s served its purpose and because of the incident it’s gained a bit of celebrity status that may appeal to someone to purchase,” he says.
