A celebrity chef’s on his way to Queenstown to cook up a fundraising feast.
TV chef Michael Van de Elzen, known as host of popular show Truckfundraisers late next week where he’ll show kids how to cook healthy food.
The events will raise money for KingsView School’s PTA and Queenstown Primary School’s year 8 urban camp.
“What I’ve found after working with groups all over New Zealand is that often it starts with the next generation. In most cases if you teach the children, they go home and teach their parents,” Van de Elzen says.
“Obesity causes lots of health problems and side-effects but also behavioural issues, such as concentration and sleep, which then impacts on learning. It’s not about reinventing the wheel but changing up some Kiwi favourites like fish and chips and pies, and adding a healthy, easy-to-cook twist to them.”
The first fundraiser, for KingsView School, will be held at the Queenstown Events Centre at 6.30pm, November 2.
That’ll be followed the next day with an event for Queenstown Primary at the school hall at 6.30pm.
Tickets for both events can be purchased from www.queenstown.school.nz (limited door sales available).
