Kids up to 12 couldn’t ask for more fun than they’ll get at this Sunday’s free Teddy Bear’s Picnic at the Queenstown Events Centre.

Between 11am and 2pm there’ll be oodles of outdoor games, music, book readings, face painting and, of course, food, including free sausages.

But don’t to forget to bring your teddy bear — MC Fiona Stephenson, pictured above, will
be awarding prizes for the likes of ‘best-dressed’ and ‘most-loved’.

Performers will include Wakatipu Conservatoire of Classical Ballet and Turn Up The Music
Trust students.

Storytellers include local children’s book authors Laura Shallcrass and Gemma Healy who’ve written Hare & Ruru and Bongo The Stowaway Mouse, respectively.

Healy and her husband John will also sing some songs, including one that inspired her book, while Margaret Amor will perform original kids’ songs, too.

Local event coordinator Janey Rae and council community recovery coordinator Jade Hill
are organising the picnic.

Originally scheduled five weeks earlier, till postponed due to Covid restrictions, it will be
held inside the Events Centre if it’s wet.
