A Canterbury child sex predator arrested in Queenstown last year for breaching bail has been jailed for two-and-a-half years.
Former teacher Malcolm Spark, 61 – who contacted hundreds of underage girls for online conversations about sex – was sentenced in Christchurch last Friday on 10 charges of making an objectionable publication and 14 charges of knowingly possessing an objectionable publication.
Last April Mountain Scene revealed Spark was arrested in Queenstown while working for a local tourist attraction popular with youngsters.
He was taken into custody when local cops discovered he’d broken a bail condition – set down in March 2007 – by working other jobs where he had computer access.
During the 2007 hearing, an Internal Affairs prosecutor alleged he sent young girls photos of himself, wrote stories on diskettes describing sexual acts with girls aged 10-12 and masturbated while chatting with girls or looking at their pictures.
